I’ve always been curious about gender roles and how they are defined for us. It has been an interesting journey to learn about the physical and psychological differences between men and women that may change our experiences in learning a martial art. Reading Tobi Beck’s The Armored Rose has led me to understand further what might propel a woman into combat and martial training, historically and contemporaneously. So, I started this list to organize all of my research.
