When the Pentagon starts showing concern for the biosphere, (‘Now the Pentagon tells Bush: climate change will destroy us’ [The Observer, February 22, 2004]) — 'sh*t is f****d' as the French say. Does that mean the survivalists were always right? Or that the ultra-paranoid (not the moderately well-adjusted) survivalist mentality has taken hold in the Pentagon? Or maybe that they're doing their job?
