'S' Words

I signed up for Google news alerts on fencing and swords. I thought there may be interesting historical articles. Mostly it's idiots attacking people with katanas or idiots attacking dogs with katanas. I'm still waiting for the really cool news links I can share with the mailing lists. There's the occasional famous sword popping up, like Horatio Nelson's, but they don't even have a picture or tell you what kind of sword it is.

More rarely, there is something like this article on Kuo Chang-hsi's traditional swordsmithing for Crouching Tiger, Hidden Dragon, which is well worth reading. As Kuo says, “Swords represent a combination of erudition, fighting prowess and chivalry.” Leave the dogs alone, please.

Call them idiots if you will. But I can help but think, had Seigfred used a sword instead of a microphone he might still be..uhm..hitting Tigers with microphones.
