September 29th is Michaelmas (Farmer's Almanac Entry), a holy feast day. Not only do I share his name, but also his interest in swords. In England, Michaelmas is also a quarter festival day on which rent is due. Goose is traditionally served — here's a rhyme to explain why:

“Whoever eats goose on Michaelmas Day
Shall never lack money for his debts to pay”

Interestingly, Mifflin County, Pennsylvania, is said the be the only community in these United States that celebrates Goose Day. I don't believe it.

I find the celebration of Michaelmas so interesting. I was named after the song Michael Row The Boat Ashore like so many other Michaels. I always wondered about the meaning of the name Winston. It means to prevail. I thought it had something to do with victory. I just wasnt for sure. Please send me an email i would love to hear from u Mike. Take care Mike DeSha
