Went golfing today (grabbed Josh) and my technique is still there. Except for my irons. But look out fairways!
I seem never to begin with my point. The point is, there was an inquisitive red dragonfly hovering around me as I swung my 5-iron. It was strikingly beautiful and lively and I don't recall seeing anything like it before.
[Edit: 5 January 2005]
Seems it may have been an amberwing.
I saw one as well not to long ago. Im 37 yrs old and have never seen one before. It was really an awesome thing to see.

Posted by: Celeste King on October 18, 2003 02:40 PMI have the coolest photo…my friend sent me of a Vivid Red Dragonfly…done with primative camera..not studio quality…but you're not going crazy…I have never seen one in real life … and neither had she…and it stayed in her yard long enough for her to find her camera and photograph it…
Posted by: Connie on December 15, 2003 04:19 PMI'd really like to see that. Is it posted to the Web?
Posted by: Mike on December 15, 2003 09:01 PMI was recently in Langkawi, Malaysia in the rainforest and took a picture of a BRILLIANT
red dragonfly. I am trying to find out what it is. I have never seen anything like it before either. Incredible looking…
I guess these must be rare enough, that people go to the internet to find out about them when they see one. I had one that hung around my pond all morning today and I had never seen one before. The wings were a reddish orange color and body looked like red velvet. I live in the Seattle, WA area.
Posted by: Christine on June 27, 2004 06:07 PMI was walking in Arlington, TX, saw something red on the dead stalk of a bear grass. Up close it looked like a red dragonfly. You are right it is an awesome sight. Next day I saw the property owners out and they said yes that there were several that hung around a small pond with a water fountain in it. I did not have my camera, hope to see it again and take a good picture. I saw this on June 23, 2004.
