Krazy Kat

The only tattoo I've ever seriously considered getting was of Ignatz Mouse throwing a brick at Krazy Kat. Krazy Kat, of course, would have a little heart wafting from her love-addled head. I have no tattoos, and this is a good thing when I muse on what such a tattoo would tell others about me. Better to get a T-shirt.

I ramble because today is the birthday of George Herriman, the creator of Krazy Kat. And if you are one of those sad people who think comics are for children and the mentally deficient, feel free to rebut e.e.cummings. They even made a ballet from this loverly strip.

Update: How did I miss this little blurb?

“Michael Stipe, lead singer of the pop group R.E.M., has Krazy and Ignatz tattooed on his arm.”

That's a whole lotta weird…

Well considering what little interaction I had with Michael Stipe when REM performed in Morgantown.. (Oh gods.. back in.. um.. '91?) I was working local backstage crew and got to listen to him basically insult not only the crowd who came to see him.. but all of West Virginia as well. It was a poor concert given with no love for music. Damn shame too.. cause I tend to like REM's music. IMHO, better that you have less in common with Stipe than more..
